Weekly Rhythm

Handcraft Revival is more than a calendar of classes—it’s a place to return to. These ongoing offerings create a steady rhythm in the studio, giving makers of all ages a chance to learn, practice, and gather regularly.

  • Handwork Nights

    A weekly gathering to stitch, knit, and crochet with friends. Bring your project or start something new — optional: guides are available to help deepen your skills.

  • Folkcraft Socials

    A lightly guided gathering—less formal than a class, more structured than open studio. Folkcraft Socials are designed for conversation, connection, and learning something new in a relaxed setting. These are held around 4x a month on Thursday evenings or Saturday afternoons.

Learn the Lingo

Not sure what the difference is between a Class, a Folkcraft Social, and Open Studio? Here’s a quick guide.

  • Classes

    Teacher-led sessions focused on learning a specific skill or completing a project. Most classes include instruction, supplies, and plenty of hands-on guidance.

  • Courses

    Multi-session classes where each one builds on the last. These are ideal for deeper learning and ongoing skill development.

  • Folkcraft Socials

    A relaxed, lightly guided making experience—less formal than a class, but with support and structure. Come make something beautiful while enjoying conversation and community.

  • Handwork Guides

    Friendly helpers available during select studio nights to answer questions, demonstrate techniques, and support beginners as they learn. *Fee Based

  • Private Instruction

    One-on-one (or small group) instruction designed to help students build confidence in a specific skill.

  • Private Events

    Private Events are custom gatherings hosted at Handcraft Revival Folk School.

  • Community Events

    Gatherings designed to bring people together through craft, tradition, storytelling, demonstrations, and seasonal celebrations. Many are free or low-cost.

  • Youth Camps

    Multi-day sessions for young makers, designed around skill-building, creativity, and hands-on learning.

  • Open Handwork

    Bring your knitting, crochet, or stitching etc and enjoy open studio time in good company. A simple weekly rhythm for steady progress, shared making, and optional help from a Handwork Guide.

  • Virginia Whiting

    Teaches: Quilting + Sewing + Folkcraft Socials

    Known for: Being equal parts sewing teacher and emotional support coach.

    Favorite tool/supply: Her Juki sewing machine (Haruka TL-18 QVP!)

    Favorite Thing to buy at HR: ALL. THE. THINGS

    Fun Fact: Her Etsy shop (where she sells quilting fabric) is named “The Fabric Librarian.” Yep, she’s a big nerd at heart.

  • Sara Vranes

    Teaches: Indigo Shibori
    Known for: A laid-back class with lots of energy and laughter
    Favorite tool/supply: Clothespins & pvc pipes— come to my class and you’ll see!
    One of your favorite HR Market Items: Those adorable wooden animals. And the doll treehouses!
    Fun fact: I wore all homemade clothes in 7th grade.
