{12/2} English Paper Piecing: Reclaimed Sari Star Ornament
Date: Wednesday, December 2, 2026
Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
Instructor: Virginia Whiting
Location: Handcraft Revival — Sugar House
Skill Level: Beginner-friendly
Give beautiful old textiles a new life in this hands-on class exploring the traditional art of English paper piecing.
Join instructor Virginia Whiting as we create a six-pointed star ornament using reclaimed sari fabrics. These beautiful textiles have already been repurposed into quilt blocks, and we'll continue their story by carefully cutting and transforming them into the individual points of our stars.
English paper piecing is a traditional hand-sewing technique that uses paper templates to create precise geometric shapes. Virginia will guide you through the process of preparing your fabric, wrapping and stitching your pieces, and assembling them into a beautiful six-pointed star ornament.
This class celebrates the art of making something new from something old. Each ornament will be entirely unique, reflecting the rich colors, patterns, and history of the reclaimed sari fabrics.
Whether you're new to hand sewing or simply love working with textiles, you'll leave with a handmade ornament and a traditional skill you can use in future projects.
