Choosing Your Club Time
Choose either the 3:00 PM or 4:00 PM session in the booking calendar. The time selected reserves your child’s place in that same weekly session for the entire fall term.
Please note: The booking calendar displays only the first meeting on September 14. Registration includes all 10 regularly scheduled club meetings.
What is Sewing Club?
Give your child a creative and supportive place to develop their sewing skills after the school day. This weekly club gives students time to work on projects that interest them while receiving guidance from an experienced sewing instructor.
Students will work on individual sewing projects, with Virginia available to help them plan, learn new techniques, solve problems, and move forward with confidence.
During the first club meeting, each student will choose a project with Virginia’s help and create a list of the supplies they will need. Students should bring their project materials beginning with the second meeting.
What Students Will Experience
- Guidance choosing age- and skill-appropriate sewing projects
- Support from an experienced sewing instructor
- Time to work on an individual project each week
- Help learning new sewing skills and techniques
- Opportunities to build independence and confidence
- A calm, creative, and screen-free environment
- Access to shared studio tools and sewing machines
- Time to develop one larger project or complete several smaller projects
Sewing Machines
Students may bring their own sewing machine if they prefer, but sewing machines will also be available for students to use during club. Bringing a personal machine is not required.
Any machine brought from home should be in good working order and include its power cord, foot pedal, and necessary accessories.
Students who bring their own machine may leave it at Handcraft Revival between weekly meetings when needed. Please label the machine, case, power cord, foot pedal, and accessories with the student’s name.
Projects and Supplies
Students will choose their first project with Virginia during the opening club meeting. Virginia will then help each student create a supply list so families know what to bring beginning with the second meeting.
Students will generally provide the fabric, patterns, notions, and other materials required for their selected projects. They may work on one larger project throughout the session or complete several smaller projects, depending on their experience, interests, and pace.
Shared studio tools and sewing machines will be available for students to use during club.
Refundable Supply Deposit
Registration includes a required $30 refundable supply deposit. This is not an automatic supply fee. The balance will remain available for the student to use if they:
- Forget their project or supplies
- Need an additional material to continue working
- Choose to use fabric, notions, or other supplies from the Handcraft Revival market
Any materials used or purchased from Handcraft Revival will be recorded and deducted from the student’s deposit.
At the end of the session, families may choose to have any unused balance returned as either:
- Handcraft Revival store credit
- A refund to the original payment method
If a student needs materials that exceed the remaining deposit balance, we will contact a parent before approving any additional supply cost.
New Sewing Students
New and returning sewists are welcome. Projects will be selected according to each student’s experience level, allowing newer students to strengthen foundational skills while returning students work toward greater independence.
Because Sewing Club is not designed to provide extended one-on-one foundational instruction during the group meeting, we strongly recommend a private sewing lesson before the session begins for students who have never sewn or used a sewing machine.
The private lesson will introduce basic machine operation and essential sewing skills so the student can enter the group feeling prepared and successful.
Please contact us if you are unsure whether Sewing Club is a good fit for your child.
Drop-In Registration
Drop-in spaces may be released closer to each meeting based on remaining club capacity.
Drop-in registration includes guidance from the instructor and the use of shared studio tools and sewing machines. It does not include project materials or the full-session refundable supply deposit. Students should bring a suitable project and all necessary materials.
Please email contactus@handcraftrevival.com if your child would like to drop in. One week’s notice is appreciated, but same-day participation may be available when space allows.
Make-Up Class
If your child misses one regularly scheduled club meeting, they may attend the make-up class on Monday, November 30, at their regular club time. Each full-session student may use the make-up class once during the fall term.
Please notify us in advance if your child plans to attend so Virginia can prepare for their project.
The make-up class is included with full-session registration and is not available for drop-in registrations.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made at least one week before the beginning of the full session may receive store credit. Within one week of the session start, registration is nonrefundable but may be transferred to another eligible student.
Missed club meetings are nonrefundable. One missed meeting may be made up during the designated November 30 make-up class.
The refundable supply deposit will be returned according to the remaining balance and the family’s selected return method.
