Foundations of Stained Glass: Sunburst

Your registration includes both evenings of this two-part class. Although the booking calendar may display only September 30, you are registered for both September 30 and October 1.

Discover the foundations of stained glass while creating a beautiful Sunburst suncatcher with Annie Christensen of Alta Stained Glass.

Dividing the process across two evenings gives you time to learn each step without feeling rushed. You’ll choose from a selection of glass colors and textures to make the Sunburst design your own, then complete it using the traditional copper foil method.

What You’ll Make

Each student will create one semicircular Sunburst stained glass suncatcher measuring approximately 10 inches wide. Radiating pieces of glass form the design, and you’ll choose from a selection of colors and textures to make it your own. Your finished piece will include a chain so it is ready to hang.

Class Schedule

Night One: Cutting & Grinding

• Select your glass colors and textures
• Learn how to work with a stained glass pattern
• Cut the individual glass pieces
• Grind and fit the pieces together

Night Two: Foiling & Soldering

• Wrap each piece with copper foil
• Assemble the finished design
• Learn the basics of soldering
• Add the hanging hardware
• Clean and polish your completed Sunburst

About Annie

Annie Christensen is the artist behind Alta Stained Glass. She brings a warm, approachable teaching style to the traditional stained glass process and enjoys helping beginners build confidence with the tools and techniques of the craft.

What to Wear

Please wear sturdy pants and closed-toe shoes on both evenings. Clothing that can handle a little workshop dust is recommended.

Important Notes

This is a two-part class, and students should plan to attend both evenings. One registration reserves your place for September 30 and October 1.

Because this class requires advance preparation and materials, please review the cancellation policy carefully.

Parking

Guests may park directly behind the Handcraft Revival building or along the street. Please do not park in neighboring parking spaces or residential parking areas along the alley.

Cancellations

Cancellations made at least one week before the first evening of class are eligible for store credit. Within one week of the class, registrations may be transferred to another participant but are nonrefundable.
