Discover the heritage craft of broom making—a satisfying, hands-on process that blends history, function, and a touch of magic. In this workshop, guests will learn traditional broom-making techniques and create two handmade brooms to take home:
🧹 A bunch broom (pot scrubber) — small, sturdy, and perfect for everyday use.
✨ A turkey wing whisk — a classic hand broom that looks just as good hanging on the wall as it does sweeping up.
Participants will explore broom lore and symbolism while working with natural materials like broomcorn and cord. The rhythmic tying and stitching of each broom creates a deeply meditative making experience—rooted in tradition and filled with purpose.
This workshop is beginner-friendly but involves some hands-on work. Moderate hand strength is recommended.
💫 Perfect For
Creative friend groups, seasonal gatherings, or team-building events.
Broom making is especially popular in the fall and makes a wonderful harvest, Halloween, or heritage-themed activity.
