Ages 8+ | June 15–17 (Monday–Wednesday) | 1–4pm
Taught by Emily Ezola, USU Youth Conservatory Director

Journey through the history of classical music in this engaging three-day summer camp led by Emily Ezola. Students will explore composers and musical styles from the Baroque period through the 20th century, learning to play a piece from each era on their own melodica.

In addition to learning about historical styles, students will experiment with improvisation and playing by ear. We’ll also take our music outside, listening closely to the sounds of nature and using them as inspiration for rhythm, melody, and creative play.

This Monday–Wednesday camp is a great fit on its own and also pairs nicely with other music-focused offering that runs the Thursday-Friday of that week.  Combining the two makes it a nice week long music camp!

What We’ll Explore

  • An introduction to major periods in classical music
  • Listening to and playing music from each era
  • Basic melodica technique
  • Improvisation and playing by ear
  • Connecting music to nature and the world around us
