Learn the art of Native beadwork in this welcoming beginner-friendly class with artist Cura Rodriguez.
In this hands-on evening class, students will create a pair of beaded fringe earrings while learning foundational techniques commonly used in contemporary Native American beadwork traditions. Cura will guide participants step-by-step through the process of planning colors, threading, shaping, and creating flowing fringe designs using glass seed beads.
Students may choose from several color palettes and styles inspired by traditional and modern beadwork aesthetics, creating a finished or well on their way to finished, pair of earrings that feels both personal and expressive.
Along the way, Cura will also share a bit about the cultural significance, artistry, and continuing traditions of Native beadwork.
Held during the month of July, this class offers a thoughtful opportunity to learn directly from a Native artist while spending an evening making something beautiful by hand.
This class is intentionally kept small (10 students) to be beginner-friendly and relaxed, with plenty of individual guidance throughout the evening.
