Ages 8+ | July 30–31 | 9:00am–12:00pm
Taught by Jennifer Samuelson

In this two-day fiber arts camp, students will design and create a fabric tent cover to pair with the wooden tent frame built earlier in the week. Using hand stitching, embroidery, and simple decorative techniques, campers will transform plain fabric into a personalized tent covering designed for imaginative play.

This camp focuses on creative expression, textile skills, and thoughtful handwork. Students will have time to plan designs, practice stitches, and add details that make their tent truly their own.

This camp is designed as Part 2 of a two-part tent-making experience, but it may also be taken on its own by students who already have a compatible tent frame at home or if they'd like to use it with chairs etc.

What We’ll Explore

  • Basic hand stitching and embroidery techniques
  • Decorative stitching and simple embellishment
  • Working with fabric at a large scale
  • Planning and executing a cohesive design
  • Creative confidence through textile art

Project

Each camper will create a custom fabric tent cover, designed to fit over a wooden tent frame. Finished covers will be embroidered and embellished by hand.
