Ages 12+ | Friday, August 7 | 10am - 1pm
Taught by Stan  Bailey

This hands-on ginger ale brewing class is designed especially for teens and serves as a perfect culminating experience for students finishing our College Cooking course.

In this session, students will learn how to make naturally carbonated ginger ale using traditional fermentation methods. We’ll explore flavor balance, sweetness, spice, and carbonation while working through the full brewing process from start to finish.

This class emphasizes practical kitchen skills, food science basics, and confidence working independently—ideal for teens preparing to cook and care for themselves away from home.

Students will leave with bottled ginger ale to ferment at home and the knowledge to recreate the process on their own.

What We’ll Learn

  • How fermentation creates natural carbonation
  • Ginger ale ingredients and flavor profiles
  • Sweetening and balancing spice
  • Safe bottling and carbonation timing
  • Storage tips and variations to try at home

What We’ll Make

Each student will brew and bottle a small batch of homemade ginger ale, ready to carbonate at home.
